Series 12 has a slightly larger body than Series 10 and 11 and takes its own size; a 10–11 case will not go on it. The face is left open on purpose: no film over the display, so taps, swipes and edge gestures work exactly as they always did. It covers the sides only — the part that meets doorframes, desks and car keys — and the raised rim means a face-down fall lands on steel rather than glass.
